The Genealogy Department is located on the second floor beside the Children’s Department. The department provides a comfortable and quiet space for researching family history.

The VA-NC Genealogical Society has its offices here and provides volunteers to help patrons with genealogical research. The society holds its monthly meeting in the library auditorium on the first Tuesday of each month.  Visit their website for hours and other information.

If you need help using the Genealogy Department, we recommend you make an appointment. To make an appointment, call Danielle Pritchett at (434) 799-5195, ext. 3.

We strongly recommend an appointment if you are traveling to Danville to conduct family history research. Without an appointment, staff assistance may not be available during your visit to the library.
